First Book

The first HWC book published is Treasure Island. It was published last month in mid-December. I mixed together over 140 illustrations by three artists, Louis Rhead, Walter Paget, and George Roux. I spent weeks cleaning up the illustrations. Annotations from several editions were added in and then I wrote a further 300 or so for a total of almost 450. An introduction by Robert Lewis Stevenson was included. Oh, I also added a short little essay I found about the basics of sailing a schooner.

I made the mistake of telling Amazon it’s a public domain title, so they threw it into the pile of nearly 1000 other Treasure Island editions and made it nearly impossible to find in a search. In case you don’t know, Amazon creates single pages with hundreds or thousands of editions of a book mixed together. This includes the reviews of all the books included. It doesn’t matter what new images you add, what mix of public domain images included, or how many new and original annotations you write, if the text itself is of a public domain book, Amazon likely will throw your book into one of those piles and make all your hard work disappear.
